Japanese bathroom solutions major TOTO has marked two significant global milestones as it looks to strengthen its presence in India’s growing premium bathroom market. The company has completed 80 years of faucet manufacturing and has been ranked joint third in the 2024 World Sanitaryware Production Rankings published by Ceramic World Review.
The achievements come at a time when rising demand for luxury housing, increasing awareness around hygiene, sustainability and wellness-focused living are driving growth in India’s premium bathroom solutions market. Consumers are increasingly seeking products that combine aesthetics, functionality, durability and water efficiency.
TOTO said its eight-decade journey in faucet manufacturing has been driven by continuous innovation in engineering, product performance and user comfort. Among its notable advancements is its ceramic disc technology integrated with a proprietary carbon film coating, designed to reduce friction and ensure smooth operation even after prolonged use. The technology was first introduced in 1994 as part of the company’s third-generation single-lever faucets.
Commenting on the milestones, Shiozawa Kazuyuki, Managing Director, TOTO India Pvt. Ltd., said, “The modern bathroom has become an integral part of everyday wellness, and today’s consumers expect products that deliver long-term sustainability, reliability and comfort. Celebrating 80 years of faucet manufacturing and receiving global recognition for our manufacturing capabilities reflects our continued commitment to engineering excellence and innovation. We remain dedicated to bringing globally proven technologies and premium bathroom solutions to the Indian market.”
The company currently produces approximately 10 million sanitaryware units annually, supporting residential, commercial and hospitality projects across international markets. TOTO said its global manufacturing operations continue to focus on quality, sustainability and technological innovation while addressing evolving customer requirements.
Industry experts note that premium bathrooms are increasingly becoming a key differentiator in luxury residential developments and upscale hospitality projects, creating opportunities for global brands offering advanced, water-efficient and technology-driven solutions.
With India’s premium housing and hospitality sectors witnessing sustained growth, TOTO believes its focus on innovation, Japanese craftsmanship and product reliability positions it well to cater to the evolving needs of developers, hotel operators and discerning consumers.
The company said it remains committed to introducing globally proven technologies and premium bathroom solutions that align with changing consumer preferences for wellness, hygiene and sustainable living.
