The Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) has commenced work on two major infrastructure projects—a Virtual Reality (VR) Centre with a three-star hotel at Yendada and a Middle Income Group (MIG) housing project at Mithilapuri—under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, reinforcing Visakhapatnam’s position as a key investment and urban growth hub.
Bhimili MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao and VMRDA Chairperson M.V. Pranav Gopal performed the bhoomi puja and unveiled foundation plaques for the projects on June 24.
The Yendada project, located along Law College Road, will feature a state-of-the-art VR Centre and a three-star hotel aimed at boosting tourism, technology adoption and visitor engagement. Simultaneously, the Mithilapuri housing initiative will deliver quality residential units targeted at middle-income families seeking affordable homeownership opportunities.
Highlighting the State’s accelerated development agenda, Ganta Srinivasa Rao said the region surrounding the upcoming Bhogapuram International Airport is being strategically developed to emulate the rapid growth witnessed in Hyderabad’s Gachibowli and Madhapur corridors. He described Andhra Pradesh as an emerging investment destination and called for the timely completion of all VMRDA-led projects.
VMRDA Chairperson Pranav Gopal said Visakhapatnam is steadily evolving into a hub for information technology and artificial intelligence, with the proposed VR Centre expected to significantly strengthen the city’s tourism and technology ecosystem.
Officials said both projects are scheduled for completion within three years and are expected to generate substantial revenue for VMRDA while contributing to urban expansion, housing accessibility and economic development across the Visakhapatnam metropolitan region.
