The Oterra Hotel, Bengaluru, a prominent luxury address in the city’s technology corridor, has achieved a major milestone in sustainable hospitality with the award of the Platinum Rating—the highest level of certification—under the IGBC (Indian Green Building Council) Green Existing Buildings category. The hotel has also been recognised as the highest-rated green existing building in India for the year 2025–26.
Conferred by the CII–Indian Green Building Council, the Platinum certification positions The Oterra among a select group of hospitality properties in the country demonstrating advanced environmental performance and future-ready operations. The certification is awarded following a rigorous evaluation of energy efficiency, water conservation, waste management, eco-friendly mobility practices, and innovation, while maintaining high standards of indoor environmental quality and guest well-being.
In addition to the Platinum rating, The Oterra’s commitment to sustainable luxury has been further acknowledged through two national honours. The hotel received the IGBC Performance Challenge Award for Green Buildings, recognising measurable outcomes in resource conservation, and an Excellence Award for its holistic leadership within the hospitality sector.
The achievement is the culmination of a long-term sustainability roadmap and the implementation of progressive Net Zero initiatives. In collaboration with Earthonomic Engineers, The Oterra has successfully aligned responsible operations with premium guest experiences, reinforcing the belief that luxury and environmental responsibility can coexist.
