The University of Southern Mississippi’s Interior Design program has earned 17 awards at the regional American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) South Central Chapter competition. The students’ outstanding work was recognized in various categories, including residential, commercial, healthcare, and hospitality design.
Camryn Ross, a senior student, won a Gold Award in Small Residential for her design of the foyer and guest bedroom in the annual Designer Showhouse. Ross also received two Gold Awards in Hospitality for her projects, The Atmos Hotel and Sloan’s Restaurant & Cocktail Bar. Tatum Hansen, another student, won a Gold Award in Hand Rendering and a Silver Award in Workplace/Commercial for her project, HALO Design Group.
The Interior Design program at Southern Miss prepares graduates to be ready for life through hands-on experiences, community projects, industry partnerships, and a student-designed showhouse. Associate Professor Claire Hamilton expressed pride in the students’ exceptional performance, highlighting their talent, dedication, and the strength of the program.
The awards ceremony recognizes outstanding work by interior design students from member universities in Arkansas, Mississippi, and Louisiana. The winning students demonstrated remarkable skills and creativity in their designs, showcasing their potential as future interior designers.
