Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad, a prime example of Art Deco architecture built in 1936 by Eric Marrett, partnered with the Architecture and Design Foundation [India] to commemorate 100 years of the style. Governor Jishnu Dev Varma launched a special logo, inspired by the Raj Bhavan’s grand staircase, to mark the year-long celebration in the Durbar Hall. Architect Srinivas Murthy presented the Art Deco features of Raj Bhavan and other city buildings. Mumbai-based architect Abha Narain Lambah delivered the keynote, sharing her work in documenting Mumbai’s Art Deco precinct, which led to its World Heritage status. The Governor lauded the Foundation and Lambah’s efforts in highlighting the significance of this architectural style and stressed the importance of its preservation for future generations.
