REHAU, a global leader in polymer-based innovations and interior solutions, has successfully trained over 1000 carpenters across India in advanced skills through its Carpenter Meet Program. The program focuses on edgebanding techniques and modern furniture manufacturing practices, aiming to bridge the skill gap in the industry. With only about 5% of India’s workforce having received formal vocational training, the initiative aligns with the Government of India’s Skill India Mission as per a press release.
The Carpenter Meet Program brings together REHAU experts and local carpenters for immersive learning experiences, including live product demonstrations and practical workshops. Carpenters are trained in edgebanding applications and modern furniture manufacturing fundamentals such as material efficiency, ergonomics, and design trends. The program enhances craftsmanship and enables carpenters to meet rising consumer expectations.
“Training more than 1000 carpenters in less than a year is a proud achievement for REHAU. Through the Carpenter Meet Program, we are not only imparting technical knowledge but also empowering skilled artisans to embrace new possibilities and improve their livelihoods,” said Tushar Verma, Executive Vice President, REHAU SOA.
The program has received a positive response, with participants reporting new opportunities to serve customers with premium finishes. REHAU plans to extend the program’s reach to thousands more carpenters, focusing on sustainability, responsible material use, and advanced finishing techniques.
