REHAU, a global provider of polymer-based solutions, has initiated a monthly skill training program for ITI graduates in the woodworking industry under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY). The program aims to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application, providing hands-on instruction in woodworking, panel processing, CNC operations, and sustainable material practices.
The initiative aligns with the Government of India’s vision of empowering youth through vocational training and addresses the pressing challenge of adequately trained workers in the woodworking sector. India’s woodworking and furniture market is expected to grow from ₹1.42 lakh crore in 2025 to over ₹2.17 lakh crore by 2030, and REHAU’s training program is designed to meet the increasing demand for skilled professionals.
Tushar Verma, Executive Vice President, REHAU India and Subcon, said, “At REHAU, we believe that growth in India’s woodworking industry depends not only on infrastructure and market demand, but equally on skilled hands and strong technical foundations.”
The program provides certification aligned with National Occupational Standards under PMKVY, ensuring that participants’ skills are formally recognized within the industry. This initiative is expected to benefit not only the trainees but also the wider woodworking industry, enhancing productivity and competitiveness.
