Quartz Plaza is a striking office tower in Istanbul, Turkey, designed by Salon Alper Derinbogaz. The building’s design incorporates a dual-skin envelope, enhancing energy efficiency, improving insulation, and allowing for natural ventilation. The project draws inspiration from the site’s geological foundation, primarily composed of schist, a metamorphic rock with parallel alignments. This is reflected in the facade’s algorithmic vertical pattern, inspired by mica, a mineral found in schist that gives it a characteristic layered structure.
The building’s northwest and northeast faces feature a double-skin facade to reduce the carbon footprint and operating costs related to heating and cooling. This double-skin facade improves the building’s thermal efficiency in both summer and winter thanks to movable vents at the frames’ edges.
The interior design concept seamlessly integrates with the faรงade, employing a similar material palette. Textured glass partitions allow for private office spaces while maintaining an open-plan atmosphere, and a modular partition system enables layout flexibility and accommodates different user capacities.
