Poltrona Frau, the renowned Italian furniture maker, has collaborated with acclaimed street artist Shepard Fairey to create the Archibald Delicate Balance Limited Edition, a unique fusion of art, craft, and nature. This limited edition transforms the iconic Archibald armchair into a powerful cultural and artistic statement, exploring themes of nature, life cycles, and human responsibility.
The Archibald Delicate Balance Limited Edition is a testament to the enduring partnership between Poltrona Frau and visionary artists. With a history of collaborations with notable designers and artists, including Felipe Pantone, Ozwald Boateng, and Fornasetti, Poltrona Frau continues to push the boundaries of design and craftsmanship. This latest collaboration brings together two creative worlds that share a deep commitment to nature and artistic exploration.
Shepard Fairey, one of the most influential voices in contemporary street art, brings his iconic visual language to the Archibald armchair. The artwork features a female figure, embodying Mother Nature, interacting with delicate birds and flowers, all recomposed into a unique illustration. The chair is upholstered in Pelle Frau ColorSphere Impact Less leather, digitally printed with multiple color layers and enriched with selective 3D embossing.

The Archibald armchair, originally designed in 2009 by French designer Jean-Marie Massaud, has become a symbol of Italian craftsmanship, comfort, and sculptural elegance. Fairey’s interpretation elevates this heritage, transforming Archibald into a contemporary cultural and artistic statement.
Only 200 numbered pieces will be produced, each accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and a bespoke clutch. A portion of the proceeds will support a tree-planting initiative in Guatemala, partnering with Treedom to plant two trees per chair sold. This initiative reinforces the vision underpinning the Limited Edition โ a celebration of balance between people and nature โ translating its values into a measurable environmental and social impact.

The visual roots of the project draw from some of Fairey’s most significant works, converging into a new narrative synthesis. The central female figure embodies Mother Nature โ a gentle force and guardian of the eternal life cycle โ recalling “Make Art Not War” (2015) and “Natural Springs Bird, Version 2” (2024). The motif of birds suspended from flowers directly references the delicate balance of nature, depicted as fragile and precious.
The Archibald Delicate Balance Limited Edition will be unveiled during Salone del Mobile in Milan (April 13-26, 2026) and will be available exclusively at Poltrona Frau flagship stores and a selection of authorized retailers worldwide.
