India’s building materials company Nuvoco Vistas, has launched Nuvoco Concreto Tri Shield, a high-performance Ready-Mix Concrete engineered to enhance structural durability and longevity. This innovative product protects structures from harsh environmental exposures, including high chloride levels, rapid carbonation, and sulphate-rich soil and groundwater as per a press release.
Nuvoco Concreto Tri Shield features three integrated mechanisms: Chloride Shield, reducing chloride penetration by 50%; Carbonation Shield, slowing carbonation rate and achieving 50% lower carbonation depth; and Sulphate Shield, resisting sulphate-induced expansion and cracking. These mechanisms work synergistically to extend the service life of structures by 50% compared to standard concrete.
The product’s performance has been validated through Nuvoco’s Construction Development and Innovation Centre (CDIC), accredited by National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), aligned with Indian Standards (IS) 456, IS 516, American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) C1202, and ASTM C1012/C1012M durability standards, as well as through advanced simulations.
