The International Society of Furniture Designers (ISFD) is partnering with Real American Hardwood to introduce the Biophilic Design in Wood category to the Pinnacle Awards. This new category recognizes professional designers who create exceptional furnishings that integrate natural elements, such as hardwood, to enhance well-being and foster a connection to nature.
Biophilic design principles include nature-inspired elements, natural lighting, organic shapes, and connections to outdoor spaces. The award will acknowledge designs that showcase the beauty of wood and its ability to bring the outdoors into interior spaces.
David Blair, Executive Director, ISFD, said, “I would like to thank our newest sponsor, Real American Hardwood, for helping us to acknowledge our talented furniture designers who are creating masterpieces that showcase this increasingly important design aesthetic.”
Real American Hardwood promotes the use of North American hardwoods, connecting designers with over 800 sources for hardwood lumber, flooring, cabinetry, and more. The deadline for entering the Pinnacle Awards, including the new Biophilic Design in Wood category, is July 31. Submission details can be found on the 2025 Pinnacle Awards website.
