Transforming Urban Governance with Technology
The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) is set to deploy an advanced artificial intelligence (AI)-driven system to streamline and modernize real estate approval processes in the city. This initiative aims to significantly reduce administrative delays by automating key aspects of project clearances and minimizing manual intervention.
The proposed system will integrate multiple civic approval processes into a unified digital platform, enabling developers, architects, and consultants to submit and track applications in real-time. This will enhance transparency, improve efficiency, and ensure faster decision-making, creating a more developer-friendly environment.
The AI-driven system will leverage data-driven analysis and intelligent automation to expedite review processes and compliance checks. “The introduction of this AI-led facility marks a significant step towards streamlining processes and enhancing transparency in Mumbaiโs real estate ecosystem,” said Ashwini Bhide, Municipal Commissioner, MCGM. The system will flag discrepancies, standardize procedures, enforce development control regulations, and provide actionable insights to applicants and authorities.
Benefits
The AI-based system is anticipated to boost investor confidence and support sustained growth in the cityโs infrastructure and housing sectors. “Mumbai is steadily transforming into a model city for ease of doing business in real estate,” said Ritu Tawde, Mayor, MCGM. “Today, construction proposal approvals are streamlined within 45 days, driven by transparency and end-to-end digitization.”
Implementation
The MCGM is currently in the final stages of preparing the required infrastructure and is expected to roll out the system in phases. Training sessions and onboarding support will be provided to ensure smooth adoption among users.
