The Ludhiana Municipal Corporation (MC) has bagged the “Excellence in smart and sustainable street lighting solutions” award for its Smart LED street lights project. The project involved replacing over 1.05 lakh luminaries with smart LED street lights, resulting in monthly energy savings of โน2 crore.
A Centralised Control and Monitoring System (CCMS) and a help desk/call centre with an IVRS toll-free number have also been established to resolve complaints promptly. The project was implemented on the ESCO model, where the concessionaire invested funds to replace luminaries.
Mayor Inderjit Kaur said the project promotes sustainable development and clean energy, reducing energy consumption. This is not the first award for the project, as it was also applauded at the National Digital Transformation Conclave and won the “Energy efficient solution of the year” award in 2022.
The Ludhiana MC has been recognized for its efforts in smart city initiatives, also winning the “Smart city award” for the Pakhowal Road Railway Over Bridge project and the “Best retrofit green spaces” award for retrofitting Leisure Valley.
