The Buxton Center for Bainbridge Performing Arts, designed by LMN Architects, has been reimagined as a vibrant cultural hub on Bainbridge Island, Washington. This 16,700-square-foot facility seamlessly blends contemporary aesthetics with the island’s natural landscape.
The center features a striking wave-form roof, expansive wood-and-glass curtain walls, and a fully modernized auditorium. Sustainability is at the forefront, with a rooftop solar array, energy-efficient systems, and a focus on local materials.
The Buxton Center is more than just a theater; it strengthens the civic and artistic fabric of Bainbridge Island, offering a dynamic space for performances, education, and community gatherings. The center’s design prioritizes sustainability and creates a connection to the island’s history and ecology.
The project has received a 2024 American Architecture Award and is targeting LEED Gold certification. With its renewed design, the Buxton Center aims to reinvigorate the local arts community and continue enriching the cultural heart of Bainbridge Island.
