Vincent Decat’s Living Series explores the intersection of functional design and biological growth, creating sculptural furniture that references organic movement and evolution. The collection includes a chair, table, and tray, each handcrafted or carefully fabricated to emphasize material experimentation and surface treatment.
One Thing Led To Another, a sculptural chair, recalls a mineral landscape with irregular contours and vivid orange elements, suggesting colonization and regeneration. Came Uninvited, a side table, evokes a transformed organism, referencing human impact on natural systems. Stage One, a tray, adopts embryonic forms, suggesting growth and development.
Each piece is crafted using techniques like 3D printing, wood and metal framework, and resin, with finishes like acrylic paint and protective varnish. Decat’s work positions furniture as evolving presences, fostering long-term engagement through form, tactility, and visual character.
