Sustainability pioneer BEEAH launched Khalid Bin Sultan City, a groundbreaking real estate project designed by Zaha Hadid Architects recently. Located in Sharjah, this sustainable mixed-use development spans 1.5 kilometers, offering 1,500 freehold residential units, commercial spaces, cultural venues, and recreational areas. The city is master-planned to foster a cohesive community, with seven distinct residential neighborhoods, each structured around a central plaza for social and wellbeing activities. These neighborhoods will feature a range of amenities, including children’s hubs, wellness clinics, sports facilities, and outdoor cafes, all designed to support daily life and human connection.
The city’s design is built on four core pillars: sustainability, technology, culture, and people. It incorporates net-zero ready smart infrastructure, renewable energy systems, recycled water infrastructure, and sustainable mobility solutions. A two-kilometer shaded linear oasis runs through the city, featuring running and cycling tracks, sculpture gardens, and wellness areas. The city’s pedestrian pathways are shaded by native trees, colonnades, and recessed facades, reducing ground temperatures and ensuring thermal comfort throughout the year.
Khaled Al Huraimel, Group CEO and Vice Chairman of BEEAH, said, “BEEAH’s journey in real estate marks a transformative milestone with Khalid Bin Sultan City… The city builds directly upon lessons learned from creating one of the world’s most advanced office buildings.” Nada Taryam, CEO of Real Estate at BEEAH, added, “We have designed Khalid Bin Sultan City as a dynamic ecosystem where diverse perspectives and talents converge, sparking new ideas and solutions for a sustainable future.” The city is expected to serve as a vital new urban hub for Sharjah, driving innovation and economic development in the region.
