The Union Government has sanctioned 2,89,355 pucca houses worth ₹3,473 crore for Rajasthan under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), strengthening the state’s rural housing programme.
Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan handed over the approval letters to Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma at a state-level PMAY-G event in Baran.
The sanction follows the completion of a physical verification survey covering 29,13,749 potential beneficiaries across Rajasthan. The exercise is intended to identify eligible rural households for housing assistance under the scheme.
The revised PMAY-G eligibility norms have also widened the beneficiary base. Families owning a two-wheeler can now qualify for assistance, while the monthly income ceiling for women has been increased from ₹10,000 to ₹15,000. Small farmers owning up to five acres of unirrigated land or 2.5 acres of irrigated land are also eligible under the revised criteria.
Alongside the housing allocation, the Centre approved an additional ₹340.59 crore for Rajasthan under the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (PM-RKVY) to support agricultural development and state-level projects.
Chouhan also announced an expansion of the state’s Lakhpati Didi target, doubling it from 16 lakh to 32 lakh women. The initiative focuses on strengthening rural women’s self-help groups and supporting sustainable livelihood opportunities.
The latest housing sanction places rural housing alongside agriculture and women’s livelihood generation as key components of the Centre’s broader rural development push in Rajasthan.
