Cult-favorite hair, body, and skin care brand Aesop has unveiled its new location in downtown New York, designed by Jakob Sprenger in collaboration with AZA Studio. The store’s interior takes inspiration from the art deco style of Wall Street’s historic sites and the 37-story Munson Building, where the retail space is located.
“The new outpost occupies the former lobby of the Munson Building, and we wanted to maintain the grandeur of the building,” said Jakob Sprenger. “The result is a lush, immersive interior that blends Aesop’s identity with the regal style of Wall Street.”
The store’s interior features tall ceilings and walls clad in Fior di Pesco marble, with pilasters displaying Aesop’s products. Crown moldings and a coffered ceiling add to the elegance, while a vintage chandelier provides decadent lighting.
The shelving system, designed by Sprenger and AZA Studio, nods to the building’s maritime heritage, with seven bays of maple wood, patinated brass, and fabric inlay opulently organizing Aesop’s offerings.
