The White House has announced plans to construct a new $200 million ballroom, known as the White House State Ballroom, on the White House complex. This project aims to address the long-standing issue of limited space for large events, which currently require temporary tent installations.
The ballroom will be built on the site of the current East Wing, constructed in 1902 and renovated multiple times since, and will span approximately 90,000 square feet with a seated capacity of 650 people. The project team includes McCrery Architects as lead architect, Clark Construction as the construction team, and AECOM as the engineering team.
The construction is expected to begin in September 2025 and be completed before the end of President Trump’s term. President Trump and other patriotic donors have committed to donating the necessary funds, and the United States Secret Service will provide security enhancements and modifications. The White House Chief of Staff, Susie Wiles, emphasized President Trump’s commitment to preserving the special history of the White House while building a beautiful ballroom that can be enjoyed by future administrations and generations of Americans.
