Lovesac, a Stamford-based upscale furniture retailer, is set to open its seventh Connecticut store in Cheshire’s Stonebridge Crossing development in 2026. The 2,100-square-foot store will be nestled between Whole Foods and TJ Maxx in the 155,000-square-foot retail complex, which is located at the intersection of I-691 and Route 10.
The store is expected to open sometime in 2026, although no firm date has been established. Many of the stores in the complex are scheduled to open by the end of this year, with Saybrook Home furnishings store anticipating a late October or early November opening.
Lovesac currently has six stores in Connecticut, located in Danbury, Greenwich, Milford, South Windsor, Westport, and West Hartford. The company is best known for its Sactional adaptable couches and high-quality bean bag chairs, modular sectionals, and accessories.
Retail experts have mixed views on Lovesac opening alongside Saybrook Home, which sells similar items. Burt Flickinger, managing director of the New York City-based retail consulting firm Strategic Resource Group, believes the market is expanding due to increased home renovation demand, citing Ethan Allen’s success in locating stores in retail centers with similar tenants. However, David Cadden, a professor emeritus at Quinnipiac University’s School of Business, notes that the amount of overlap in merchandise between Lovesac and Saybrook Home is key to determining whether both stores can survive at the Cheshire location, suggesting that too much overlap could lead to sales cannibalization.
