Tata BlueScope Steel, a leading manufacturer of pre-engineered steel buildings, has championed inclusive sports by developing a state-of-the-art football ground for differently-abled children at the Divyang Sahayata Kendra in Pune. By leveraging its expertise in steel architecture, the company has created a facility that addresses the lack of specialized infrastructure and coaching for differently-abled children, providing a safe and well-maintained space for them to practice and compete.
The multi-sport facility offers a dedicated training environment, professional supervision, and skill development opportunities as per a press release. It is designed to be fully inclusive, with concrete ramps and wheelchair-accessible entry points, ensuring seamless movement for all players. The facility also features a state-of-the-art playing surface, all-weather playability, and enhanced safety measures.
Priya Rajesh, DGM Marketing and Corporate Communication, Tata BlueScope Steel, said, “Many of these children have the potential to represent India on the biggest sporting platforms. With the right infrastructure and support, we can pave the way for them to become professional athletes. This initiative also reaffirms our ultimate purpose, #ShelterForAll, which aims to provide safe and reliable roofing solutions across the country.โ
The facility will benefit around 150 differently-abled children in the current year alone, serving as a foundation for long-term sports development. It will function as a training ground for future Paralympians, enabling talented athletes to hone their skills, compete in professional tournaments, and bring national and international recognition to India.
