Salone del Mobile 2026, happening from April 21-26 at Fiera Milano, Rho, introduces a new initiative, Salone Contract 2027, led by Rem Koolhaas and David Gianotten of renowned architectural firm OMA. This strategic project explores the contract furniture market, shifting the fair’s focus towards creating market-oriented infrastructure for participating companies. The event will feature a dedicated lecture, international forum, and contract-focused pathway, showcasing innovative solutions.
Maria Porro, President of Salone del Mobile, highlights the collaboration with OMA as an opportunity to engage with a strong vision and methodological approach, dissecting the complex contract market. “Contract is a segment that relies less on individual products and more on an established ecosystem โ one that aligns design, production, and delivery of furniture and architecture to create desirable built environments for the long term,” says David Gianotten, Managing Partner – Architect, OMA.
The fair will also debut Salone Raritas, showcasing curated icons, unique objects, and outsider pieces, with 25 international exhibitors. Other highlights include Aurea, an Architectural Fiction installation, and SaloneSatellite, welcoming 700 designers under 35 from 43 countries. The event boasts over 1,900 exhibitors from 32 countries, 169,000 square meters of net exhibition space, EuroCucina, and the International Bathroom Exhibition.
“Since the 19th century, world fairs have functioned as experimental grounds where industries project their ambitions, where cultural dialogues are reinvented, and where opportunities for collaboration materialise,” says Rem Koolhaas.
