A limited-edition furniture collaboration between Rimowa and Swiss furniture maker Lehni has been announced ahead of its launch during Salone del Mobile 2026.The Rimowa Lehni collection features two pieces of furniture designed specifically to store Rimowa cabin-sized suitcases at home. The pieces will be presented at Milan Design Week at the Rimowa Lehni Visitor Centre on Via Achille Maiocchi 10, open 21-24 April 2026. A special window installation by local practice Studioutte will also feature at Rimowa’s newly renovated Milan flagship.
Product Details
The Rimowa Lehni Bench is an open-shelving unit that holds up to two suitcases side by side. The Rimowa Lehni Drawer is a sculptural stacked-storage frame with a closed drawer for smaller objects. Both pieces are finished by hand at Lehni’s factory in Zurich. The furniture is crafted in anodised aluminium in black or silver, and each shelf is lined with a scratch-resistant felt mat. The partnership brings together two established names in aluminium craftsmanship. Rimowa has been creating its German-engineered luggage for over a century, while Lehni has been producing aluminium furniture in Switzerland since 1922. This marks the first time the furniture brand has adapted its modular system to create a purpose-built storage solution for suitcases.
Brand Heritage
The collaboration fuses both brands’ design backgrounds and shared dedication to aluminium craftsmanship. โTogether with Lehni we crafted made-to-measure pieces that perfectly marry our Swiss and German design backgrounds while celebrating our shared dedication to aluminium craftsmanship. This collaboration transforms the way our suitcases live at home, creating innovative storage solutions that are both purposeful and beautifully engineered,โ said Mathieu Plenier, chief marketing officer, Rimowa. The project represents technology and beauty applied to aluminium, made entirely in Switzerland to the highest aesthetic and quality standards. โTechnology and beauty applied to aluminium. A design product made entirely in Switzerland to the highest aesthetic and quality standards โ characteristics that set both brands apart in the market,โ said Benedetta Agostini and Antonio Monaci, owners and directors, Lehni.
Event Experience
The Rimowa Lehni Visitor Centre will present the collection alongside a curated selection of titles chosen by Swiss publisher Innen Publishing. Visitors will also find a postcard-mailing station where they can send handwritten notes from Milan. The Rimowa Lehni collaboration transforms suitcase storage from an awkward household problem into a design statement, with pieces purpose-built to house Rimowa luggage. Suitcases can be awkward to store, but the new Rimowa Lehni furniture collection aims to change that by creating furniture that integrates the luggage as part of the home environment rather than hiding it away.
Design Context
The limited-edition Rimowa Lehni pieces respond to a common challenge for frequent travelers who own premium luggage. Instead of relegating cabin-sized suitcases to closets or under beds, the aluminium units display them as functional objects. The open-shelving Bench allows quick access while keeping two cases aligned, and the stacked Drawer adds concealed storage for accessories. Both use the same material language as Rimowaโs iconic grooves, extending the brandโs identity into domestic interiors. By adapting Lehniโs modular system, the collaboration maintains Swiss precision manufacturing while meeting the specific dimensions of Rimowa cabin luggage. The scratch-resistant felt mat protects both the furniture and the suitcase exterior, addressing practical concerns about surface wear over time. With finishes in anodised aluminium in black or silver, the pieces complement contemporary interiors and echo the luggage palette. The Rimowa Lehni launch at Salone del Mobile 2026 positions storage as part of the design conversation during Milan Design Week.
