Infra Boost
Droupadi Murmu has inaugurated five development projects worth ₹1.58 billion in Rourkela, aimed at strengthening civic infrastructure and enhancing quality of life in the region.
The projects span key sectors including healthcare, education, sports, and public utilities, reflecting a multi-sector push toward improving urban infrastructure and community services.
The initiative is expected to support long-term urban growth in Rourkela, one of Odisha’s key industrial cities, while addressing gaps in essential services and social infrastructure.
Among the developments are facilities such as a planetarium, science centre, tribal museum, and integrated command and control centre—projects designed to boost scientific awareness, preserve cultural heritage, and improve urban governance.
Urban Growth
Speaking during the inauguration, the President emphasised the importance of inclusive development and modern infrastructure in driving regional progress, particularly in tribal-dominated districts like Sundargarh.
The projects underline continued public investment in Odisha’s infrastructure ecosystem, aligning with broader efforts to accelerate socio-economic development and improve urban liveability across emerging cities.
