Foster + Partners has unveiled designs for Sudameris Plaza, a 188-meter-tall skyscraper in Asunción, Paraguay, set to become the country’s tallest building. The 39-storey tower will serve as the headquarters for Sudameris Bank, with the bank’s offices occupying the first six floors and the two highest levels. Commercial office space will be located in the middle.
The building’s design features a series of rectangular, concrete frames wrapping up and over a glazed center. The ground level will contain low-rise retail space, a garden, and a landscaped plaza. According to David Summerfield, head of studio at Foster + Partners, “The elegant tower rises up from the green, shaded gardens at its base, creating an exciting new destination with cafes, shops and social spaces that are completely immersed in nature.”
The building will incorporate green spaces, with sky gardens improving wellbeing by offering varied breakout spaces that generate new connections with nature. The double-height lobby will be set back from the street by a landscaped garden, and open-plan workspaces will be located on the north side of the building. Private offices, a boardroom, and a gallery space will be situated on the top floors.
