The Maharashtra government’s decision to grant full legal validity to digitally signed land records—including 7/12 extracts, 8-A extracts and property cards—has drawn strong praise from stakeholders across the real estate and infrastructure ecosystem. The reform is expected to streamline documentation processes, accelerate project execution and enhance transparency in land-related transactions.
Welcoming the announcement, Sudarshan Lodha, Co-founder and CEO of Strata, said the move represents a crucial step in modernising India’s land management systems.
“Land is the foundation on which India’s next decade of infrastructure and urban growth will be built. Maharashtra’s decision to formalise digital land records is a strategic move that aligns with the country’s ambition to modernise its land economy. The clarity created at the documentation level will ripple across project timelines, capital planning, and ecosystem-wide accountability,” he said.
Lodha added that the reform will significantly bolster Strata’s ability to offer faster, safer and more transparent transactions to its clients.
The initiative is expected to reduce administrative delays, minimise disputes arising from manual record-keeping and support the state’s broader digital governance agenda.
