Haryana is set to construct India’s tallest building as part of its Global City project, a 1,000-acre integrated urban development near Dwarka Expressway. The mixed-use landmark will house premium offices, global corporate headquarters, hospitality, observation decks, and public spaces, symbolizing the state’s economic ambition and urban transformation.
The project, currently at the Request for Proposal (RFP) stage, will feature sustainable mobility options, including Light Rapid Transit, electric buses, pedestrian walkways, and cycling tracks. Over 56% of the area will be open and green space, with plans to plant over one lakh trees, reducing surface runoff by 55% and lowering local temperatures by up to five degrees Celsius.
“We want Global City to be recognised internationally. The proposal for India’s tallest building is part of that vision. However, the project is still under process. The RFP has been proposed, no bidder has been finalised yet, and consultancy support is under consideration,” said Rao Narbir Singh, Cabinet Minister, Haryana Government.
The Global City project is expected to attract ₹10 lakh crore in investments, generate over 5.2 lakh jobs, and house more than 200 multinational companies. The project will support a residential population of nearly 1.8 lakh citizens and a floating population of around 5.2 lakh people. Key features include schools and colleges, office spaces, multi-speciality hospitals, retail hubs, bus depots, fuel stations, electric vehicle charging stations, fire stations, exhibition and convention centres, and a multi-sports complex, all within a 15-minute walking radius.
The project adheres to green standards, with buildings aligned to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment, and Indian Green Building Council norms. Renewable energy solutions include solar-panel-shaded parking, solar street lights, rooftop solar photovoltaic systems, smart metering, and bio-waste reuse.
