Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, has approved the Architectural Identity for Dubai’s road projects, aiming to enrich the city’s visual character and enhance its urban landscape. This initiative aligns with Dubai’s vision to build a sustainable and integrated city, improving the experience for residents and visitors.
“I also approved the new architectural identity for Dubaiโs road projects, and reviewed the Dubai Tunnels initiative, which will transform urban infrastructure into cultural and artistic landmarks. We remain committed to continuously investing in world-class infrastructure and integrated public transport to advance economic growth and enhance quality of life,” said Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed.
The approved identity categorizes Dubai into six zones: Residential Zones, emphasizing privacy and tranquility with warm colors and local materials; Rural Zones, reflecting natural and agricultural character with organic materials and earthy tones; Industrial Zones, simple and functional with durable materials and neutral colors; Mixed-Use Zones, combining residential and commercial functions with flexible architectural language; Historical and Artistic Zones, highlighting Dubai’s cultural heritage through traditional design and local ornamentation; and High-End Attraction Zones, featuring contemporary urban facades, modern architecture, and unique materials.
Key projects include the Trade Centre Roundabout Improvement Project, constructing five bridges and converting the roundabout into a surface-level intersection, reducing travel time by 75%; and the Al Mustaqbal Street Improvement Project, widening the street, adding tunnels and bridges, and enhancing traffic flow. The Dubai Tunnels initiative will beautify 18 tunnels in three phases, incorporating smart lighting and sustainable materials.ยน
