CMDA offers architecture internships in TN, aims to accustom students for real life situations in urban planning projects

The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) within the Chennai Corporation is providing internships to 50 students per semester who are enrolled in architecture and planning programs at universities in Tamil Nadu.
“CMDA is giving internship opportunity for architecture students in the State. In coming June/July 2024, you can apply. It will help you to learn real life situations through our urban planning projects,” Anshul Mishra, Member Secretary (Executive Head), CMDA, Chennai, informed in Madurai recently.
He was speaking during the launch of two courses-M.Plan and B.Design- at Thiagarajar College of Engineering (TCE) in Madurai on April 10th 2024, through Thiagarajar School of Environmental Design and Architecture, offered in academic collaboration with CEPT(Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology) University, Ahmedabad-Gujarat.
Thanks to the efforts of the Department of Architecture at TCE in Madurai, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed today for M.Plan and B.Des courses.
Speaking at the launch of two new programs, TCE Chairman .K.Hari Thiagarajan said that students these days should know about environment sustainability, urban planning, design, interior design and right advocacy.
“To combat climate change problems, our institution had started a sustainable centre in Madurai just a few days back. Green economy is the future, it is going to create jobs. T-SEDA is an initiative in that direction. De-silting of water bodies, rejuvenating our local water bodies, addressing the water scarcity, environment protection issues etc are before us right now,” Thiagarajan added.
Among those who spoke at the launch of the two new programs M.Plan and B.Des today were S. Rajaram, TCE Registrar; Dr. Jinu L. Kitchley, Professor and Head of the Department of Architecture at TCE; and Barjor Mehta, President and Acting Director of CEPT University in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
