The 10th edition of the Chicago Architecture Biennial (CAB) — North America’s largest international survey of contemporary architecture and design — is now open across the city and suburbs, offering all exhibitions free to the public through February 28, 2026.
Launched in 2015 as part of Chicago’s 2012 Cultural Plan, CAB has showcased over 500 projects from 40 countries. This year’s theme, “SHIFT: Architecture in Times of Radical Change,” examines how design responds to global transformation through five main venues: the Chicago Cultural Center, Graham Foundation, Stony Island Arts Bank, Museum of Science and Industry, and 840 N. Michigan Avenue (opening next month).
Highlights include “A Mies Space for Senses” at IIT’s Galvin Tower by Luftwerk, the immersive installation “Variations in Mass Nos. 5, 6, 7” by Jacqueline Kiyomi Gork, and “Inhabit, Outhabit”, a global exploration of housing models.
“Architecture is fundamentally about engaging with change and shaping more equitable futures,” said Florencia Rodriguez, CAB’s Artistic Director.
