Calcom Vision Limited has entered the solar-powered outdoor street lighting segment, as it looks to diversify into infrastructure-led and project-driven categories and scale up revenues. The company expects to generate around ₹100 crore in revenue from the segment by FY30, it said. For real estate developers, municipal bodies, and EPC contractors, Calcom’s move introduces a new ODM partner for solar infrastructure tied to highways, smart city projects, and rural electrification. The entry aligns with national energy transition goals and growing specification of off-grid lighting in public works, township development, and industrial campuses where grid independence and lifecycle cost reduction are key procurement criteria for construction and urban planning teams.
Product Portfolio
The move is part of Calcom Vision’s broader strategy to expand its presence in solar and outdoor lighting solutions. Its portfolio includes all-in-one (AIO) solar street lights, semi-integrated systems and remote monitoring system (RMS)-enabled street lighting, along with flood lights and high bay lights for industrial and infrastructure applications. For architects, lighting designers, and infrastructure consultants, RMS-enabled fixtures support asset monitoring, maintenance scheduling, and performance analytics across distributed installations. The availability of multiple wattages, mounting formats, and battery capacities enables specification in large-scale tenders for highways, parks, logistics parks, and municipal upgrades, supporting design compliance and energy efficiency mandates.
Demand Outlook
The company said it has already started seeing initial demand for its solar outdoor lighting offerings. Calcom expects the segment to contribute up to 20% of its overall revenue over the next five years. The expansion comes amid rising adoption of solar lighting across highways, smart city projects, urban infrastructure and rural electrification programmes, driven by the need to reduce grid dependence and improve energy efficiency. For construction firms and urban local bodies, solar street lighting reduces trenching, cabling, and long-term OPEX. This supports faster project execution in greenfield developments, township infrastructure, and last-mile connectivity where conventional grid extension is cost-prohibitive or delayed.
Leadership Vision
“India’s energy transition demands a different kind of manufacturing partner—one that brings design depth, not just assembly scale,” said Abhishek Malik, executive director at Calcom Vision Limited. “Our entry into solar outdoor lighting is aimed at positioning Calcom as an ODM partner for industrial and outdoor lighting.” For project developers and government agencies, ODM capability means access to custom engineering, optics, and battery integration rather than commoditized assembly. This supports tender-specific customization for pole height, lumen output, autonomy, and IoT integration. The positioning strengthens Calcom’s relevance in infrastructure projects requiring technical compliance, lifecycle warranties, and scalable supply chain commitments.
Capacity Expansion
To support the expansion, the company is doubling its manufacturing facility in Greater Noida from 15,000 sq metres to 30,000 sq metres. The facility will support production of solar and outdoor lighting products alongside its existing portfolio. Calcom plans to manufacture 10,000–15,000 units of solar street lighting annually, with capacity scalable depending on project demand. The unit currently operates 11 SMT lines and 10 assembly lines, along with in-house plastic extrusion and powder coating facilities. For EPC contractors and developers, vertical integration in plastics and coating improves lead times, finish quality, and corrosion resistance critical for outdoor fixtures in coastal and high-humidity zones.
Product Development
The company is also expanding its product configurations across wattages, mounting formats and battery capacities to participate in large-scale tenders. In parallel, it is developing a battery pack manufacturing vertical for solar lighting and electric two- and three-wheeler applications. For infrastructure planners and real estate developers, in-house battery pack capability enhances supply security and performance matching for RMS-enabled systems. It also aligns with lifecycle cost models where battery replacement cycles impact TCO. Broader wattage and format options allow specification across access roads, perimeters, parks, warehouses, and high mast applications, simplifying procurement for mixed-use and industrial projects.
Business Outlook
Separately, Calcom recently entered into a manufacturing partnership with Goldmedal Electricals for LED lighting products, which is expected to generate ₹20–25 crore in annual revenue at steady-state capacity. Calcom Vision is looking to strengthen its position across LED lighting, electronics manufacturing and emerging segments such as solar and EV-linked solutions, as it shifts towards higher-value product segments. For the architecture and construction ecosystem, the expansion signals greater availability of integrated solar lighting, battery, and controls from domestic ODMs. This supports Atmanirbhar Bharat goals, reduces import dependence, and provides infrastructure stakeholders with scalable, compliant solutions for sustainable urban and rural development projects.
