Brazil’s furniture and mattress exports reached $769.3 million in 2025, up 0.8% from 2024, but fell short of expectations. The growth slowdown is attributed to cautious trade flows, exhausted short-term stimuli, and the impact of US tariffs.
The US market, a key destination for Brazilian furniture, saw its share drop to 23.5% in 2025. The US Supreme Court’s decision on tariffs imposed on Brazilian imports is being closely watched, with potential implications for the industry.
On a positive note, the US postponed additional duties on certain wood products until January 2027, providing temporary relief. The Mercosur-European Union Agreement, signed in January, offers potential for expanded access to the EU market, with estimated growth of up to 20% in the first year.
“Cândida Cervieri, Abimóvel’s executive director, emphasizes the need for market diversification and stronger industrial competitiveness in a more regulated and less predictable trade environment.”
