Brigade Hotel Ventures Limited (BHVL) today entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Tamil Nadu at the Tamil Nadu Global Tourism Summit 2026, committing an investment of INR 1,100 crore towards large-scale hospitality-led infrastructure development in Chennai. The MoU was signed in the presence of the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M. K. Stalin.
The proposed investment will be deployed across three strategically located greenfield hospitality developments along Chennaiโs key commercial and urban growth corridors, reinforcing the cityโs position as a preferred destination for global business, trade, and tourism. In addition to strengthening tourism infrastructure, the projects are expected to create over 1,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities, contributing to sustained urban economic growth.
The initiative aligns with the state governmentโs focus on attracting long-term capital, accelerating real estate-led infrastructure development, and catalysing mixed-use destination hubs through publicโprivate partnerships.
Commenting on the development, Vineet Verma, Director, BHVL, said, โThis MoU represents a significant infrastructure-led investment anchored in long-term real estate fundamentals. Chennaiโs robust economic growth, improving connectivity, and strong demand drivers make it a compelling market for hospitality-backed real estate development. With land already secured for all three projects, we are well positioned to deliver high-quality assets that will enhance the cityโs urban fabric while generating sustained economic and employment value.โ
BHVL currently operates Holiday Inn Chennai OMR IT Expressway, its first hospitality asset in Chennai, developed through its subsidiary SRP Hotel Ventures Limited. Operational since April 2017, the 202-key hotel is located within one of the cityโs most prominent commercial corridors and has established BHVLโs footprint in the Chennai hospitality real estate market.
Under the new investment plan, BHVL will develop over 500 additional keys across three premium hotel assets, each positioned as a long-term real estate play integrated with Chennaiโs evolving infrastructure landscape. Brigade Group has already acquired land parcels for these developments, underscoring its commitment to disciplined capital deployment and asset-led growth.
The upcoming developments include:
-
Courtyard by Marriott at Chennai World Trade Center, offering approximately 45 guestrooms within a high-density commercial and convention-led micro-market, located 13 km from Chennai International Airport.
-
Grand Hyatt Chennai ECR, a destination resort development with around 211 guestrooms, aligned with the East Coast Roadโs emergence as a leisure and second-home corridor.
-
JW Marriott Chennai OMR, a large-format business hotel featuring approximately 250 guestrooms and suites, strategically positioned along the Old Mahabalipuram Road IT corridor.
Together, these projects represent a significant addition to Chennaiโs hospitality and urban infrastructure ecosystem, reinforcing Brigade Groupโs role as a long-term real estate developer and infrastructure partner in the stateโs growth story.
