The Aga Khan Award for Architecture (AKAA) has announced 19 shortlisted projects for the 2025 Award cycle, competing for a share of the $1 million prize. The projects were selected by an independent Master Jury from a pool of 369 nominations.
Established in 1977, the AKAA recognizes building concepts that address the needs and aspirations of communities where Muslims have a significant presence. Since its launch, 128 projects have received the award, and nearly 10,000 building projects have been documented. The AKAA’s selection process emphasizes architecture that meets people’s physical, social, and economic needs while stimulating and responding to their cultural aspirations.
The shortlisted projects showcase innovative architectural solutions that cater to diverse community needs. The winner(s) will receive a share of the $1 million prize, recognizing outstanding contributions to architecture.
