Rajasthan is poised to become India’s leading cement producer, driven by a proposed investment of Rs 17,000 crore in Jaisalmer. This investment will establish six new cement plants, adding nearly 16 million tonnes of capacity between 2026 and 2029. Currently, Andhra Pradesh leads with 62.5 million tonnes of installed capacity, followed by Rajasthan at 55 million tonnes. However, with these new plants, Rajasthan is expected to surpass Andhra Pradesh.
The new plants in Jaisalmer, backed by major industry players and supported by secured limestone mining leases, will significantly boost Rajasthan’s cement industry. Key highlights of this growth include increased production capacity, employment opportunities, and sustainable practices. The projects will generate direct and indirect employment opportunities for local communities and feature sustainable practices like waste heat recovery systems and green energy usage. Jaisalmer’s proximity to limestone reserves and key markets in Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Haryana makes it an attractive location for cement production.
Officials confirmed that these are concrete projects, signaling a significant boost for Rajasthan’s cement industry. Nagaur’s ongoing cement projects and Chittorgarh’s existing plants also contribute to the state’s growing output. With major cement companies investing in the state, Rajasthan is set to become a hub for cement production in India.
