The Uttar Pradesh government has embarked on an ambitious project to restore 11 historic forts and buildings, showcasing the state’s rich architectural legacy. Historic Sites Set for Restoration
– Talbehat Fort (Lalitpur): A testament to the region’s medieval past, this fort is known for its unique architecture and historical significance.
– Rangarh and Bhuragarh Fort (Banda): These forts showcase the blend of architectural styles prevalent during the time of their construction.
– Wazirganj Baradari (Gonda): This 17th-century structure is an exemplary example of Mughal architecture.
– Alambagh Bhawan, Gulistan-e-Eram, and Darshan Vilas (Lucknow): These buildings reflect the city’s rich cultural heritage and architectural diversity.
– Tikait Rai Baradari (Kanpur): A notable example of colonial architecture, this building has been identified for restoration.
– Mastani Mahal and Senapati Mahal (Mahoba): These historic structures are known for their intricate carvings and ornate architecture.
– Tahrauli Fort (Jhansi): This fort is a testament to the region’s rich history and architectural prowess.
– Sitaram Mahal/Kotwan Fort (Mathura): This building showcases a blend of traditional and modern architectural styles.
Restoration Approach
The restoration project will be carried out in collaboration with private agencies, which will be responsible for designing, developing, investing in, operating, and eventually handing over the restored sites to the government. This approach aims to not only conserve the state’s architectural legacy but also promote tourism and generate employment opportunities.
