NaMo Grand Central Park, a landmark urban greenspace in Thane, has been honored with the DNA Paris Design Award 2025 in the category of Landscape Design – Park & Public Space, Educational, Community & Recreation Facilities. This 25-acre park is a transformative public space that blends sustainability, design, and inclusive recreation, featuring India’s largest skate park, a 3-acre artificial lake, fitness and leisure zones, an amphitheater, elevated bridges, and botanical trails that support over 3,500 trees.
The park was designed by Landscape Architects 49 (L49), a globally acclaimed studio from Thailand, and developed by Kalpataru Limited in collaboration with the Thane Municipal Corporation. Parag Munot, Managing Director of Kalpataru Limited, said, “We are deeply honored to see NaMo Grand Central Park receive global recognition at the DNA Paris Design Awards. This award is a tribute to the vision of creating a world-class public park for the citizens of Thane.”
The park is divided into three major sections: Play Zone, Sports Arena, and Theme Gardens, featuring iconic structures, fitness stations, walking and cycling paths, meditation areas, and green spaces. Some notable features include:
– India’s largest skate park
– A 3-acre artificial lake
– Four themed gardens inspired by Moroccan, Chinese, Japanese, and Mughal designs
– An iconic ‘X’ bridge
– Over 3,500 trees, creating a vital oxygen zone for the city
NaMo Grand Central Park has also been shortlisted for the World Architecture Festival (WAF) 2025 and will be presented at the global stage in Miami this November.
