Glidevale Protect, a leading UK producer, has unveiled Protect FrameFoil FR, a new Class A2 fire-rated, reflective air and vapour control layer (AVCL) and separate FR sealing tape. This innovative solution improves thermal performance and airtightness of internal walls, ceilings, and floors. Key benefits of Protect FrameFoil FR include its Class A2 fire rating, achieving A2-s1, d0 reaction to fire rating, and its ability to enhance thermal efficiency with an aged thermal resistance (R-value) of 0.64 mยฒK/W.
The product is designed for use internally across steel, masonry, and timber-framed structures, and is suitable for modular and offsite construction, as well as traditional builds in both the residential and commercial sectors. Protect FrameFoil FR features a woven, glass fibre construction with an aluminium foil surface, and has been independently fire-tested both with the membrane free hanging and as a system application fixed over A1 and A2 substrates.
Some notable features of Protect FrameFoil FR include: it meets Building Regulations Approved Document B in the UK and Building Regulations Technical Guidance Document B in Ireland, provides airtightness, vapour control, and thermal efficiency, and can be installed across all development heights.
According to John Mellor, Head of Marketing at Glidevale Protect, “FrameFoil FR is another exciting addition to our fire-rated solution offering, designed to meet the increasing demands of regulatory compliance and building performance.” The product is part of Glidevale Protect’s comprehensive fire-rated solution offering, which includes Class A2 fire-rated external wall membranes, providing added protection for structures, particularly in high-risk, multi-occupancy builds over 11 meters in height.
