The American Institute of Architects, California (AIA CA) has launched the 2026 Architecture at Zero competition, inviting students and professionals worldwide to design a year-round educational and cultural venue that doubles as a resiliency asset during emergencies.
The competition aims to promote sustainable design, equity, and resilience, aligning with California’s goal of achieving zero-net energy (ZNE) for new construction by 2030. The winning entries will be awarded $25,000 in total prizes.
The competition is open to global participants, with a deadline of June 1, 2026. A panel of international experts will jury the submissions.
