Nagaur unit takes company’s total cement grinding capacity to 25.1 MTPA
JSW Cement has commissioned an additional 1 MTPA cement grinding unit at Nagaur, Rajasthan, taking its total cement grinding capacity to 25.1 MTPA.
Following the commissioning, the total grinding capacity at the Nagaur plant has increased to 3.50 MTPA. The capacity addition is part of JSW Cement’s ongoing expansion of its cement manufacturing footprint.
The company’s total clinker manufacturing capacity, including its joint venture JSW Cement FZC, currently stands at 9.74 MTPA.
The capacity addition comes as JSW Cement is also pursuing the proposed merger of its listed subsidiary Shiva Cementwith the company. The board approved a scheme of arrangement last month, subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals.
Under the proposed scheme, JSW Cement will issue five equity shares for every 41 shares held by Shiva Cement shareholders other than JSW Cement. JSW Cement currently holds 66.23% of Shiva Cement’s paid-up equity share capital.
Once the scheme becomes effective, Shiva Cement will cease to exist without being wound up. The shares held by JSW Cement in Shiva Cement will be cancelled, with no JSW Cement shares issued against that holding.
