Bajel Projects Ltd has formalised an agreement with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) to execute two sections of a 500 kV overhead transmission line in Egypt, marking a significant milestone in the company’s international expansion and strengthening its presence in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
The agreement, signed in Cairo, covers Lot 1 and Lot 5 of a flagship national grid reinforcement programme and is valued at over ₹400 crore, placing it in Bajel’s ultra-mega project category. The transmission corridor is aimed at strengthening Egypt’s high-voltage electricity network and improving power evacuation to meet rising industrial and economic demand.
The agreement was signed by Rajesh Ganesh, Managing Director & CEO, Bajel Projects, in the presence of Suresh K. Reddy, Ambassador of India to Egypt, along with senior officials from EETC, highlighting the strategic importance of the project and growing India-Egypt infrastructure cooperation.
Commenting on the development, Ganesh said the project reinforces global confidence in Bajel’s engineering capabilities and its ability to deliver complex high-voltage transmission infrastructure in international markets. He added that the order further strengthens the company’s footprint in the MENA region.
The Egypt contract builds on Bajel’s expanding overseas business, which includes a 50:50 joint venture with Saudi Arabia’s Al Sharif Group and the establishment of a transmission and distribution subsidiary in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Theproject also reflects the increasing role of Indian engineering and EPC companies in supporting power infrastructure development across international markets.
