Global architecture firm OMA has unveiled the design for The Perigon, a 17-storey residential tower planned for Miami Beach’s Mid Beach neighbourhood. Located at 5333 Collins Avenue, the project is being developed through a joint venture between Mast Capital and Starwood Capital Group.
Set on a rare dual-waterfront site stretching from Indian Creek to the Atlantic Ocean, The Perigon is shaped by its unique surroundings and the opportunity for panoramic water views. Led by OMA Partner Jason Long, the design reimagines the building as a composition of interlocking “towers,” rotated to face the ocean and Biscayne Bay while minimising visual impact on neighbouring properties.
The individual volumes are merged and elevated 45 feet above the flood line, creating a single sculptural form that frees up the ground plane and improves resilience. Subtle contrasts between organic and orthogonal geometries highlight the relationship between the towers and lend rhythm to the façade.
Unlike typical Miami Beach residential developments that turn inward at street level, The Perigon introduces a porous base with a prominent entrance along Collins Avenue and landscaped outdoor amenities overlooking the ocean. Terraced upper levels step down toward both the city and the sea, echoing the lifted form below.
The development will comprise 82 residences, offering floor-to-ceiling windows, expansive terraces and a mix of open-plan and secluded living spaces. Spanning approximately 408,000 sq ft, the project is currently under construction, with completion expected in 2027. Upon completion, The Perigon is targeting LEED Gold certification.
