AXIS Architecture + Design has completed the renovation of 1 Hotel Seattle, a luxury hotel brand conversion that showcases the firm’s expertise in hospitality design and sustainability. The 18-month project transformed the former Pan Pacific Hotel Seattle into a modern, sophisticated, and luxurious urban retreat inspired by the Pacific Northwest’s natural landscapes.
The hotel’s design features a nature-inspired program, with elements such as rough-hewn wood cladding, live edge wood, and biophilic design elements. The lobby and public spaces feature a lodge-like atmosphere with massive Douglas Fir beams and a two-story living feature wall with lush moss and local greenery. The guestrooms and suites are designed with serene organic sanctuary in mind, featuring built-in headboards and millwork made from reclaimed wood.
The renovation included several notable architectural elements, including a wood-clad entrance canopy with a building code modification, a destination restaurant, La Loba, created from a former gallery, a relocated fitness center within the building, and sustainable design elements throughout the hotel. The project aimed for LEED Silver certification and diverted over 70% of construction waste from landfills.
The project demonstrates AXIS’ growing reputation for hospitality architectural design in the Pacific Northwest and adds to their extensive portfolio of luxury hotel design and renovation projects.
