Maharashtra’s Minister of State, Meghana Sakore Bordikar, assured the real estate and infrastructure sector of the government’s commitment to framing progressive, housing-friendly policies. She was addressing the 17th NAREDCO National Convention – “India Builds: Reimagining Growth through Real Estate and Infrastructure” in Mumbai.
Bordikar said the state will align infrastructure policies with evolving industry requirements, particularly in new town planning, sewage and water management, recycling initiatives, and industry incentives. Recommendations made at the convention, she noted, would be duly considered.
On the issue of stamp duty rationalisation, however, she refrained from making commitments, stating that while no immediate relief is likely, the government remains focused on progressive, infrastructure-led development.
Maharashtra is also stepping up efforts in sustainable growth, including water resource management, river connectivity projects, and subsidies for primary infrastructure and amenities, supported by the Centre.
NAREDCO Chairman Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani called for a fresh blueprint of infrastructure policies, stressing that housing and real estate must grow 15% annually for India to achieve developed-nation status before 2047. Smita Patil, President of MAHI (NAREDCO), urged the government to extend comprehensive policy support to bridge existing gaps.
Prashant Sharma, President of NAREDCO Maharashtra, welcomed the government’s assurances, adding that consistency, transparency, and ease of doing business are critical to boosting investor confidence.
