Masquespacio, a multidisciplinary Spanish design studio led by Ana Milena Hernández Palacios and Christophe Penasse, has unveiled its latest hospitality design project, Novu Waffle, located in Al Olaya, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The interior design focuses on creating a “fun and immersive” environment.
Conceived for Novu Waffle, the 100 sqm gastronomic space is designed as a “dynamic and cheerful environment” where the waffle is the central theme. The studio’s approach blends hospitality interiors with the client’s branding, creating a playful yet sophisticated ambiance.
Upon entering, visitors are greeted by a striking façade design featuring geometric patterns reminiscent of waffle grids. This visual theme continues inside, with a central rectangular structure made of brick, referencing waffle squares. The cubicle-like seating area extends this concept, with textured tables, stools, and cushions reinforcing the motif.
A delicate yellow structure suspended over the central seating area creates a soft contrast against the predominant pastel blue hues. This interplay of colors and textures elevates Novu Waffle’s experience, ensuring a vibrant aesthetic that enhances customer engagement.
Masquespacio’s design guides visitors along a curated journey within the restaurant, with the ordering counter strategically positioned to optimize flow. The experience culminates at a feature wall adorned with brand imagery and playful messages celebrating Novu Waffle’s identity.
“At Novu Waffle, we sought to create a space where fun is the main ingredient,” states Masquespacio. “The waffle shape has been our main source of inspiration, and we have integrated it into every detail of the design to offer a unique and engaging experience.”
