Australia-based Plus Architecture established its eleventh studio in Canberra recently, marking a significant expansion of the firm’s regional presence. Paul De Sailly, a 20-year veteran of large-scale mixed-use developments and civic architecture, will lead the new studio.
The Canberra studio aligns with the city’s economic development priorities, emphasizing sustainable infrastructure and climate resilience. The ACT Government’s commitment to net zero emissions by 2045 presents opportunities for innovative architectural solutions.
De Sailly, who returns to his hometown of Canberra, notes the city’s growth and transformation, saying, “Canberra is experiencing an exciting period of growth and transformation, particularly with an influx of young professionals seeking both career opportunities and lifestyle benefits.”
Sumedh Kataria, Plus Architecture Director, highlights the city’s emergence as a knowledge capital and hub for innovation, stating, “Paul’s deep understanding of the local market, combined with his national and international experience, positions us perfectly to deliver exceptional architectural outcomes.”
The Canberra studio will work on diverse projects, including build-to-rent developments, hotel projects, and civic architecture. The studio is located in Civic Quarter 1 at 68 Northbourne Ave.
