Adani Cement has become the first Indian cement company to adopt the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) framework, marking a significant milestone in sustainable manufacturing. This move positions Adani Cement among seven global cement manufacturers committed to nature-positive business practices.
“Our adoption of the TNFD framework marks a pivotal moment in Adani Cement’s journey towards nature-positive growth and climate leadership,” said Vinod Bahety, CEO-Cement Business, Adani Group. “We are proud to be the first in our industry to commit to TNFD-aligned disclosures, reflecting our belief that responsible business is the foundation of long-term success.”
Adani Cement’s existing environmental initiatives, including planting over 7 million trees, achieving 12x water positivity, and promoting biodiversity conservation, provide a strong foundation for TNFD adoption. The company aims to increase alternative fuel usage to 30% and green power share to 60% by FY28.
Key Highlights:
– TNFD Adoption: Formal adoption from FY26, enhancing transparency and accountability in environmental performance
– Decarbonisation Efforts: Deployment of Coolbrook’s RotoDynamic Heater technology, reducing carbon emissions
– Sustainable Targets: Net-zero emissions by 2050, with Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)-validated targets
Adani Cement’s commitment to TNFD aligns with its broader Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy, reinforcing its leadership in sustainable manufacturing.ยน
