The (W)rapper, a cutting-edge office building in Los Angeles, features Vitro Glass’s Solarban 70 Solargray glass. This innovative structure is part of a 35-year revitalization initiative transforming a former industrial area into a vibrant urban hub.
Located along the Expo Line light rail, the 235-foot-tall (W)rapper introduces a new architectural scale and density to the neighborhood. The building’s design, featuring curvy bands instead of traditional columns, is supported by a base-isolated foundation, enhancing its resistance to earthquakes.
Vitro’s Solarban 70 Solargray glass was chosen for its clarity, consistency, and solar control performance. This triple-silver-coated low-e glass maximizes energy efficiency and cost savings. With Solarban 70 glass, smaller HVAC systems can be specified, leading to savings on initial equipment and a return on investment.
The Solargray glass option regulates solar heat gain and minimizes glare, enhancing occupant comfort. Its versatility complements various building materials, contributing to a sleek and modern architectural profile. The Solarban 70 Solargray glass combination shields 81% of the solar heat gain while allowing 32% visible light.
The project’s design, combined with Vitro’s low-embodied carbon glass, contributes to a reduced carbon footprint compared to conventional buildings.
