The New Valley Hospital in Paramus, New Jersey, is a milestone project for Valley Health, designed by Skyline Design in collaboration with HDR Architecture. This 890,000-square-foot medical campus aims to deliver high-tech, high-touch care.
The project involved integrating ten different decorative glass techniques throughout the hospital, including textured, printed imagery, back-painted, gradient, and laminated glass. The design challenge was to ensure consistency and cohesion across multiple spaces while maintaining a cleanable, durable, and pathogen-resistant surface suitable for a healthcare environment.
To achieve this, Skyline Design leveraged its vertically integrated manufacturing capabilities, producing all glass types under one roof. This approach ensured a seamless and consistent aesthetic throughout the hospital.
Key features of the project include:
– The use of digital printing, lamination, and back-painting to accurately translate artwork and colors across various glass types
– The integration of ten different glass techniques to create a unified aesthetic throughout the hospital
– The utilization of glass’s natural properties as a non-porous, pathogen-resistant material to create a safer and more hygienic hospital environment
– Close collaboration with HDR Architecture and Valley Health to deliver a solution that aligned with the hospital’s commitment to high-quality patient care
The result is a visually cohesive and functional environment that enhances the hospital’s interior spaces. The durability and cleanability of the glass installations ensure long-lasting vibrancy and ease of maintenance.
