Swedish furniture company Ikea on July 17 issued a recall for some models of Varmfront power banks, citing a fire safety risk due to a manufacturing error.
A total of 36 affected units have been sold in Singapore, and no incidents have been reported in the country, it added in a statement.
This error is isolated to these models:
โข Varmfront power bank 10,400mAh (model number E2038) with date stamp (YYWW) 2313, 2316, 2318 or 2319
โข Varmfront power bank 5,200mAh (model number E2037) with date stamp (YYWW) 2318, 2319 or 2322
Customers need to check the printing on the underside of their Varmfront power bank to confirm if their unit is affected, Ikea said. Those with other date stamps are not affected by the recall.
Those who own these products should stop using them immediately and contact Ikea for a full refund. Proof of purchase is not required.
โIkea products are risk-assessed and thoroughly tested to make sure that they can withstand the tough test of everyday life at home, and that they comply with applicable requirements and regulation in all markets where Ikea operates,โ said the furniture company.
It apologised for any inconvenience caused by the recall.
